Looking Back at 2024
Arts on Display
The 23rd Annual Art Show & Sale was an amazing event that showcased the work of 29 talented artists. The show ran from June 1st to July 12th and featured a wide variety of art styles, from traditional paintings to carved wooden vases. Visitors of the museum were able to explore the creativity and skill of the artists on display and take in the unique pieces of art. Z.L. Feng was awarded the Electra Waggoner Biggs Best of Show Award, sponsored by Helen & Gene Willingham, for his watercolor painting, “CAPT’N”.
Educating Generations
The 2022-2023 school year was a great success for the museum's Free School Tour program. More than 600 students were able to tour the museum. During tours, students had the opportunity to learn about local history, science, and art. The program was so popular that the 2023-2024 school year is already off to a great start with nearly 300 students already scheduled to visit! We are excited to continue providing these educational opportunities to students and look forward to another successful year!
Summer Art Camp
Lots of kids spent time at the Red River Valley Museum this summer, and our “Art Through the Ages” camp was a highlight! Over 20 young and eager students joined us to explore artistic traditions from around the world and across history.
Throughout the week, these budding artists delved into hands-on projects like clay pottery, glass mosaics, stained glass, and weaving. Each day offered a new opportunity for discovery, as campers learned about a wide range of techniques, styles, and global art movements. From bold strokes to delicate brushwork, they soaked up inspiration and expressed their creativity in incredible ways.
We’re so proud of their work and can’t wait to do it again!
Texoma Gives
Our biggest annual fundraiser, Texoma Gives, was a success! We were able to raise a grand total of $38,310 with the help of 89 generous donors. These funds are being saved to complete the Waggoner Gallery Remodel. With your help, we hope to begin construction in the next year!
Texoma Gives 2025 will be the FINAL year for this regional fundraiser. Can you help us make it our best year yet? Mark your calendars for September 4th!
Talented Local Kids
The 4thAnnual Youth Art Show was a huge success! Over 120 works of art were on display, with 116 artists participating- over doubling last years participating!
This event was joined with Kid’s Day at the Museum, a free event that encourages families to learn more about history, science, culture, and art. Over 120 visitors attended this fun event! Thanks to the generous support of community sponsors, $2,070 in prizes were awarded to the participants at the grand opening and award ceremony. It was a great day for young artists and their families to appreciate art and have fun!
