Board Spotlight: Dr. Marvin Sharp

Dr. Marvin Sharp has served on the Red River Valley Museum board long before it found a home on the Vernon College campus. As one of the longest serving board members we would like to recognize his commitment to the museum and his community.
Dr. Sharp was an all-star full back for the Vernon Lions.

His performance on the field earned him a scholarship to Southern Methodist University where he earned a degree in business. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy where he served his country for several years. He then attended Texas A&M University, where he received a DVM degree as well as an MS degree in parasitology before returning home to Vernon where he would open his own practice.
Quickly after coming home, Dr. Sharp joined the museum board and was instrumental in fundraising the building that now houses the RRVM. His hard work and dedication did not end there. He served as board president and continually helped the museum improve over the years.
He is an active member in his church and supports many organizations around Vernon. He and his wife, Patsy, are wonderful assets to the board and to the community. Thank you for all you do!
